Terms of Service
Effective date: March 2026 — journli.app
1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account on Journli, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms form a binding agreement between you and Journli.
2. What Journli is
Journli is a personal journaling application with optional AI-powered pattern analysis. It is a tool for personal reflection and self-understanding.
Journli is NOT:
- A medical device or healthcare provider
- A mental health service or therapy substitute
- A crisis intervention service
- A substitute for professional psychological or psychiatric care
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or a crisis helpline in your country.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to use Journli
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and recovery phrase
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
- You must provide an accurate email address
- One account per person — you may not create accounts on behalf of others
4. Your content
You retain full ownership of all journal entries and content you create in Journli. We claim no intellectual property rights over your content.
By using Journli, you grant us a limited technical license to store and process your encrypted content solely for the purpose of providing the service. This license terminates when you delete your account.
You are solely responsible for the content of your journal entries. You agree not to use Journli to store content that is illegal under applicable law.
5. AI analysis
The AI analysis feature is optional. By enabling AI analysis on an entry, you consent to that entry's content being sent to Google Gemini API for processing as described in our Privacy Policy.
AI-generated insights are provided for personal reflection purposes only. They are not medical advice, psychological diagnoses, or professional opinions. Do not make medical or mental health decisions based on AI insights from Journli.
6. Encryption and data loss
Journli uses client-side encryption. Your journal entries are encrypted with a key derived from your password. We strongly recommend:
- Storing your recovery phrase in a safe place outside the application
- Using a strong, memorable password
Journli is not responsible for data loss resulting from forgotten passwords or lost recovery phrases. If you lose access to both your password and recovery phrase, your encrypted data cannot be recovered by anyone, including Journli.
7. Service availability
Journli is provided as-is. We make reasonable efforts to maintain service availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience outages without prior notice.
During the beta period, the service may change significantly. Features may be added, modified, or removed.
8. Prohibited uses
You agree not to:
- Attempt to circumvent the encryption or access other users' data
- Use the service to store content that violates applicable law
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or extract data from the service
- Create accounts using automated means
- Use the service in any way that could harm other users or the service infrastructure
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Account deletion is immediate and permanent — all your data is deleted and cannot be recovered.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. In the event of termination for a serious violation, we will provide notice where legally required.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Journli and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including data loss, service interruptions, or reliance on AI-generated insights.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Poland. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Poland, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.
12. Changes to these terms
We will notify registered users by email of material changes to these Terms at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Journli after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
